Sunshine's Dance & Cheer Studio has recruited some of the Bay Area's most accomplished and talented dance instructors, each of whom brings their own personal approach to the dance floor. See below who they are:
April Hatton is a dance teacher and choreographer of 8 years. She has been dancing since age 5 and has formed a life’s passion for ballet, teaching, and performing! One of her greatest goals is to share her life’s passion of movement so others may experience the joy that dance cultivates.
April first began classes in Bakersfield, CA with a ballet, tap, and gymnastics combo class. As a teenager, she danced at the Conservatory of Dance and Performing Arts for 8 years. Here April progressed in the highest levels of ballet and point classes, Pilates, company classes, etc. It was here that she first started teaching ballet, point, Christian dance, company classes, conditioning, and choreography. April danced with Ballet Rejoice, a pre-professional Christian dance company from the Conservatory of Dance and Performing Art’s studio. She was a senior member and Assistant Director/Choreographer for three years.
April performed in Nutcrackers and spring performances with Placer Theater Ballet of Auburn, CA. The different characters she has played are Village Girl in Snow White, Waltz Flower and Snow in Nutcracker. To further educate her experience, April traveled to dance intensives and attended teacher workshops at Ballet Magnificat! in Jackson, Mississippi.
As an advanced dancer, April took dance classes in college and was a teacher’s aide in Ballet and Modern. At the CSU of Sacramento from Spring 2008 - Fall 2009 she took: Choreography, Dance History, Advanced Ballet, Beginning Jazz, Intermediate Modern, and Weight Training. April was an assistant teacher to Lorelei Bayne, Assistant Professor in the Dance Department, for Beginning Modern, and Nolan T’Sani, Professional Ballet Instructor, for Intermediate Ballet.
April continues to share her love of dance by teaching at several dance studios in the Bay Area. She has also recently formed a dance ministry in San Francisco called OPEN. This ministry provides anyone who has a love and/or appreciation for the arts to help grow and share within the community. She currently has outreaches at parks in San Francisco and is also invited to travel around the Western Coast to teach workshops.
Cyndi Wright has taught dance and choreographed for over 20 years in the bay area. Her love for the extraordinary art of tap shows in her teaching and performance. She enjoys teaching students of all ages and prides herself on constantly developing new material. As a solo tap dancer she as been invited to dance at venues throughout California.
Jazz & Ballet/Tab Combo Instructor
Michelle has been a dancer starting at two years of age to present; ballet has been her passion! Starting from Ronn Guidi’s “baby class” at Oakland Ballet Company, traveling to Dance Dana in the Midwest, back to California for the bulk of her dance education which came from Yukiko Sakakura at Duane Dance Academy in Hayward and getting her Bachelor’s of Art in Dance at San Jose State University in 2007. And she has expanded her experience in ballet, pointe, modern, jazz, partnering and tap. Choreographing is “icing on the cake” a teacher gets to see images come to life and experience each person’s contribution to the movement.
